| site_overview | 国指定史跡「埼玉古墳群」中の1基で、昭和43年8月さきたま風土記の丘整備事業の1環として発掘調査された。古墳は前方部を欠失するが、全長約120mの前方後円墳であり、2重の方形にめぐる周堀を有し、西側中堤の後円部側には外堀に向って別区のような造出しが認められている。現存する後円部高さ約11m、径約6cmで、埴輪を有するが、葺石は認められない。発掘により主体部は粘土槨と礫槨の二つが認められたが、後者の方が新しい。須恵器は昭和13年前方部東側くびれ部付近から出土したもの。 |
