| site_overview | 遺跡は利根川南岸下総台地の北端、香取郡下総町大和田の治部台・稲荷峰・大日台等の各所に発見された各玉作遺跡群を一括して大和田玉作遺跡と総称している。昭和45年3月治部台玉作遺跡が果樹園造成により一部破壊されたため、緊急調査をおこなった際、隣接の稲荷峰玉作遺跡の一部破壊が知られ、同年8月発掘調査が実施され工房址・住居址・玉類および未成品・剥片・屑片等365、土器約100片を検出。東国唯一最大の玉作集団遺跡と考えられ、畿内政権の東進に関連する重要な意味をもつとされている。
