| site_overview | 室ケ谷古墳群（本光寺古墳）は駿河湾に流入する由比川下流の平野に面した丘陵裾部の緩傾斜地に立地する。ここには四基の古墳が存在するが、3号墳はその一基である。昭和31年、地元の高校生により乱掘されたが、内部主体は乱石積の横穴式石室で、当地方の群集墳の典型的なタイプであるが、石室の規模はかなり大きいものであったといわれる。 |

| current_condition | 板部を金張りとした鉄製であるが、発掘後かなり腐蝕したといわれ、金張り部分はわずかに認められる程度で保存程度はあまり良くない。一部接着剤でつないでいるが、これを更に台紙に接着しており、好ましい管理方法といえない。 |
