| site_overview | 瀬戸内海の小島喜兵衛島の南北各々2、計4つの浜に形成された遺跡群である。うち南東浜がもつとも詳しく調査され、六世紀における土器製塩遺跡の構造のおよそが明かにされた。遺跡は、（1）製塩炉 （2）製塩作業面 （3）廃棄物の棄て場 （4）生活の場の4者によつて構成されていた。4～5世紀の土器製塩遺跡も発見されているが、その構造の詳細は明らかでない。なお、付近山腹などに製塩集団による古墳約20基が築造されている。 |

| current_condition | 炉、作業面、土器層、生活址などの各遺構の大部分は調査後埋め戻しをおこなつた。遺跡の海岸よりは波浪あるいは築堤のため部分的に破壊されている。現在遺跡上表は荒地及び松杭となつている。
