画家熊坂適山は寛政8年（1796）伊達郡保原町に生れた。伊達郡梁川町を中心に松前藩領となったとき、松前藩家老で画家の蠣崎波響の門人となり、のち浦上春琴の門に入り、南画の奥儀を究める。天保年間郷里で作画生活をおくり、のち松前藩の客分の抱え絵師として150石を給せられる。万延元年、松前藩士として江戸詰めとなり、中央画壇に進出する機会をえた。この画譜は、嘉永6年3月の出版である。 |
