| Form / Shape | 日光開山の祖勝道上人の墓所と隣接し、開山堂参道の途中に立てられている。勝道上人は、日光を開山し、西の比叡山と対祷されるほどの隆盛をきわめる基礎をつくったが、死後当地において、茶〓に付されたと伝えられている。
この像は、比較的木彫の多い日光地区における数少い石造彫刻である。
作風はおとなしく、一部破損している。 |
