この木造は喜多院内慈眼堂に開山像として祀られているもので、喜多院再興の英傑天海の像である。檜材の寄木造。極彩色で玉眼が嵌入されている。袍裳に袈裟をかけ、右手に払子をもち、左手をこれに添えて倚子上に趺坐した姿である。墨書銘に寛永二十年八月とあり、同年十月二日に入寂した天海僧正歿前二ヶ月前の寿像だということがわかる。 |
