島田一郎は明治十一年五月東京紀尾井坂で大久保利通を暗殺した一味の主謀者で石川県士族。本幅は一郎が明治八年友人小関求安に書いて与えたもの。時活一郎と落款してその慷慨を述べている。一郎らは西郷隆盛の挙兵に呼應する計画をしたが失敗、目標を大久保にかえたもの。直に七月斬刑に処せられた。没年31才。 |
