秋月の乱は明治9年(1876)10月 旧秋月蕃士400余人が起した反政府暴動であるが、10月27日挙兵、11月1日 小倉鎮台兵に敗れ、首領らは自刃した。この申渡書は秋月の乱にくみした益田静方に対する刑の申渡をしたもの。
