本例品は、新潟県、あるいは全国的にみても最大の先刃形石器で、発掘時に我々を驚かせた稀例の遺物であった。黒味がかった無光沢の粘板岩から剥出した大形剥片を用え、その形は、長さ19cm、厚さ4.4cm、刃部は幅広くつくられ、背面の中央を2本の縦稜線が並走し、中高厚肉で、尾部は次第に細く尖っている。先端につくられた刃は、切り立った8本の堅縞状の並列陵角によって構造され、その角度は70度を示す。また主剥離面は大ぶりの平剥ぎ手法によって平坦に作出されている。 |
